This page is an index of ships by name. It shows matching names
and their official number, sorted first by name, then by official number.The source of our information is shown. Please see the finding aids page for details on sources, the abbreviations we have used, and acknowledgements. We particularly thank Mick O'Rourke of Irish Shipwrecks for his hard work on our joint project on the MNL 1860 data.
On the right hand side of the results table are links to more detail for each official number. This shows any other names for that vessel and provides further links to CLIP data and other databases.
The database includes every British registered ship from 1855 to the early 1950s with official numbers 1 to 200000. It was last updated on 29 July 2010 and contains 367614 entries.
