This page is an index of ships by their port of registry. It shows matching names
and their official number, sorted first by name, then by official number, with other details such as date of registration, and rig.The source of this information is the Mercantile Navy List for the years ending in 0 from 1860 to 1910, together with 1857 and 1915. We will be adding data from 1920, 1930 and 1940 in due course. Please see the finding aids page for details on sources, the abbreviations we have used, and acknowledgements. Please note that the data was transcribed as seen in MNL, so port names may appear in different versions, for example, Shields and South Shields
